After the long walk to the 3rd beach, we made a visit to the 1st beach (love these clever names!) that is just beside the road. Like Rialto and 3rd Beach, this one also has lots of large logs washed up on shore.
Some of these a really enormous. This upturned stump is more than twice my height across at the bottom.
Some, like this tree in the foreground, are polished by the sand and water to a high shine.
I found a log with some bark still intact and decided to make an unusual photo. It is not everyday that you see a horizontal log framing the sea stacks in the distance. This is a composite of 19 separate images, each focused at a different distance so that everything from the near side of the log to the sea stacks are in focus.
