Over the Mountain
A drive over the mountain to Albemarle and Nelson Counties took us first to Chile's peach Orchard where we got to enjoy the beauty of the Blue Ridge mountains in all their sunny day glory.
the trees were hanging full of fruit. This tree was peculiar since it has stunted fruit on a leafless tree.
Here you can see that it really a dead tree with fruit. I thought it was pretty strange.
Our next stop was the Hilltop Berry Farm. On the way we made a short visit to the antique shop in Greenwood where I found this lizard out front.
We arrived at the blackberry farm a bit early in the season...there were few ripe berries in the field and lots of red ones. Nevertheless, we got a couple pints and headed home. The peaches and blackberries have now made a fine pie. A trip that was well worth the effort.
