Allora

Today we ventured south from Toowoomba and visited several places. First was Clifton with a Baobob tree on main street (the only street). Then came Allora with it's great post office.

Just down the street from the post is the house where Pamela Lynn Travers (nee Helen Lyndon Goff) spent two years of her childhood, 1905-1907. In 1933 under the pen name of P. L. Travers, she began writing Mary Poppins. See, you know that you remembered that name.

Just down the street is a memorial to her. And a bit further along the street is the house where she lived.

Of course, now it is a bank. Kinda sad, right? But it is pretty on the outside even if the bank is closed.
