Mission Beach, Tulalip Bay

Another day with sunshine! I am at a loss for words.

While E was doing a bit of shopping for clothes, I drove to Tulalip Bay to have a look about. This is just near the Tulalip Reservation and, as a result, the cemetery is an interesting place to visit.

The engraving of the image on the marker above, makes a very compelling memorial to this young man.

Others simply include a photo of the deceased. Here, the addition of feathers indicates his heritage. But the young age of both these fellows suggests a hard life for folks here about.

While there are some large stones to admire in the cemetery, this plot with the small statues conveys more emotion than most of the larger ones.

Some gravestones are much more intricate with the Native American designs. The many flags are a function of the many in this community that have served their country.

Around the bay a short distance (it is a small bay), is the marina. Here, I finally get access to the shore. The bay is formed by a hook in the land and you can see the opposite side of the hook in the image below.

The more distance land to the right is the shore of Whidbey Island. At the very right edge of the image below is the hint of a mountain. It is on the Olympic Peninsula on the other side of the island.

Shifting to the right, we can clearly see the shore of Whidbey and then the Olympic Mountains in the far distance. The cormorants (not sure what kind) are enjoying the sunny day as am I.
