Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery

The Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery in Hobart is a place we revisited because they have a special exhibit on now about the Tasmanian Devil.

Their permanent collection includes this display of butterflies. There are some interesting and unusual ones here.

One of the stuffed animals on display is the Thylacine, better known as the Tasmanian Tiger. The last one of these died in captivity a more than 100 years ago. There are still claims of sightings in the remote parts of Tasmania, but none of these have been confirmed. Certainly looks more like a dog than a tiger. Remember, this animal, the Devil is a marsupial.

In the Tasmanian Devil exhibit, there is a display of both the stuffed animal and the skeleton.

He certainly seems to be in his usual bad mood. Speaking of the apparent bad mood, there was also a video display showing Bugs Bunny and Tasmanian Devil cartoons.
