Darwin

Finally, after more than 4,000 km, we have arrived in Darwin! This is a very different place from the one we left behind in Perth. It is hot, humid and tropical. The above photo seems to suggest that Darwin is a modest city surrounded by a wild place. This is not entirely wrong. This photo is taken from the overlook at the Darwin National Park not far from the CBD.

Here we are staying in a hotel because it is very humid and we actually want to be able to sleep at night. Also, it is the off season now and the prices are affordable.

In this picnic area where we stopped to visit the National Park, we found a couple feathered friends. First is the Rainbow Lorikeet.

And the second, les clearly seen is the Little Friarbird.

The city of Darwin is nice enough but nothing to get excited about. the really interesting stuff is out of town in Kakadu and Litchfield Parks. Seeing this required getting there and knowing what to do when you get there. For this we hired onto a couple tours. Riding in an air conditioned coach while someone else drives and we relax is the way to do it. the good images all come from these two trips so stay tuned for this photos coming soon.
