The Nullarbor

On the sixth day since we left Phillip Island, we finally entered the nullarbor. The name comes from the latin for 'no trees'. And it lives up to the name.

There was a surprising amount of traffic (not that you see it in these pictures) as we drove through a plane of grass, spinifex, and assorted low bushes that stretched to horizon in every direction.

Even though we come to the 90 mile stretch of straight road in Western Australia, The roads here are pretty darned straight. And empty. And the scenery is more than a little awe inspiring.

Note: The first and last images in this post are looking in opposite directions along the road. They are not the same image.
