Melbourne

Although I posted before about the shopping arcades in downtown Melbourne, I thought you'd like to see a few more shots of the place. We visited recently with our friend Cathy Eckman to show her a few high spots.

The Block Arcade is a glorious space with high ceilings and lots of light. The clock bracketed by the two horn players plays a Handel trumpet voluntary when it strikes the hour.

In the Royal Arcade, we find plenty of light coming through the huge skylights.

There is even a side "street" off the arcade leading back to Elizabeth Street.

There are, of course, plenty of macaroons to eat.

We emerge from the Royal Arcade on to the Bourke Street Mall. this is a pedestrian and tram only street. Looks like there is tram jam here today.

A fun day in the city.
