An Impression out the Rear Window

Some of you may be shocked to learn that it was a soft day today and we had rain. After a bit it did stop. But it started again. And again. So I thought I'd do the best I could with this foggy, featureless scene and go impressionistic.

This begins to give a feeling of what we see out the back window when it rains.

The trees are wrapped in a blanket of clouds and snuggled into the edges of sound. The shore feels closer somehow.

The house become indistinct, but still present. The shoreline is just the darkness of the trees ending. The clouds give the impression of smoke in the aftermath of a fire.

There is a small, uninhabited island that is just a low shadow on the water.

Everything becomes indistinct and more nearly "almost there". It feels like reading a book containing a comforting, yet alien scene. It is comfortable but unwelcoming.
