Spring Bluff in the Rain

We're having a spot of weather here. You may have heard that a big weather system moved through South Australia the other day and that entire state lost power. We have been getting rain, although clearly not of that magnitude. One day clear, the next soft.

We lit out for a jaunt while clouds gathered overhead. By the time we got to our first stop, Spring Bluff, it was starting to rain. This gave me a chance to explore some soft images. With a reduction in clarity for these images, I could reduce the the hazy/soft image to an impressionist painting. By boosting the saturation a bit, the colors pop and enhance the effect, especially for the flowers in front of the cottage.

Standing under the cover of the train station, I was able to get a few shots of the green and comfortable mountain side before we gave in and drove home. The rain and spring greens of the trees reminded me very much of the mountains in western North Carolina where I grew up. Even though there are no trees here in common with my birthplace, it felt very comfortable standing here.

Before we left, a train came through. While it would have been more fun to see a steam engine headed down the tracks, the diesel engine did had a little spice to the sound of the rain on the metal roof.
