A Ride Through the Country

The sun finally came out and we took a bit of a ride though the country. Out past Spring Bluff where we gave up in the rain before, we went down to Murphy's Creek.

There we had our first sighting of a Jacky Winter sitting on a limb enjoying the sunshine.

Here, as nearly everywhere are the prickly pear cactus.

Of course, there was a time when they were really everywhere. Here's an image from the Queensland Historical Atlas showing Chinchilla in the 1920's. Things have really changed, but there are still plenty of them about.

On the way back home we drove Prince Henry Drive to the lookout to see Table Mountain again (E hadn't been there yet). I captured another panorama for your enjoyment.
